Why are websites and other forms of Electronic Marketing replacing newspaper and Yellow Pages ads?

The simple answer is because traditional print advertising, which usually cost hundreds of dollars and run for limited times, are too expensive and have been losing their effectiveness, as more and more people get their information from the Internet.  Newspaper ads are being replaced by nearly cost-free electronic advertising, which, if used correctly, can be much more effective, and can target specific customer profiles.


The yellow page directory is going the way of the telephone booth.  Nobody looks for a telephone book any more.  They just pull out their cell phone and google "restaurants" and the city they are in.  And if they have a DinerMagic restaurant website, their site will appear complete with directions on how to get there!  If they have GPS, it will guide them right to your door.  Why pay several hundred dollars a month for a listing in the telephone book that nobody reads anymore?
