Affiliate FAQs

What if my customer already has a website?

The fact your customer has a website indicates that they know how important it is to use the latest technology in both promoting and running their business. For customers that currently have websites we can offer these options:

  1. Design a new DinerMagic website (quickest and most popular choice).  We can incorporate any features of their existing website into our new design.  This is the fastest way to get a Dinermagic website up and going. In just a few days, you will be online with a modern, easily editable website that identifies you and your restaurant.

  1.  Adapt and use their current website.  This would depend on if your client owned the rights and how cooperative their web designer is.  Typically website designers don't allow modification by someone else.

Other considerations:

Some restauarant owners who were early adopters of websites may not be so receptive at first - especially if they were sold a "static" website that they cannot update without having to pay the website designer each time a change needs to be made.   They may feel that they were sold a "bill of goods", especially if they paid several thousand dollars for their website and they do not feel that it has been a good investment.  They may be turned off at the idea of having to pay for yet another website.  However, explain to them that, as the owner of their website, they can authorize us to use whatever graphics and artwork they already paid for, and incorporate these into their new DinerMagic website.  In other words, it will not be a total waste.  This would speed up the design process and they will end up with a usable, dynamic website with an editable menu system in place.

For those customers who already have a website and only want the menu management capability, we may offer this service with a link to our server.  We would charge the normal setup fee and monthly access fee.

There are several factors to consider when contemplating using an existing website.  For example, consider the technology involved. Is it a dynamic website, database driven, or is it static?  Does it allow for modification or is it "canned"?  Would using and modifying your client's current website give any advantage over creating a new website?

For the DinerMagic software to work properly, their website would have to be moved to our servers, and not all websites can be moved.  Does your current website make available the latest in social networking with access to networking (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)?  Does your current host promote your website, positioning it for better search results?  Are you paying more for your management and hosting services than you would with Dinermagic?

Designing a new DinerMagic website while incorporating features that you may like in your existing one, should be a relatively easy task.  We would use your artwork, photos, color scheme, and basic layout in the adaptation. It may not be possible to produce an exact copy your current website, but the final product would be close enough that your customers would definitely recognize it and feel comfortable using it.  And we would not need permission from your previous web designer.
